Georgia Southwestern State University’s accounting graduates excelled on the latest Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam according to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), ranking No. 25 among the nation’s medium-sized programs and No. 3 among schools in Georgia.

“This is affirmation of the quality of our program and dedication of our faculty. Our pass rates have risen remarkably since 2010,” noted Liz Wilson, Ph.D., dean of the School of Business Administration. “Our students are doing more internships, are being challenged more in our classes, and most importantly, are finding rewarding jobs in their fields. Our accounting program is becoming recognized as one of the best in Georgia.”

Based on the NASBA study, Georgia Southwestern’s BBA students who took the CPA exam for the first time scored a 67.7 percent pass rate. This compares favorably with the 55 percent national pass rate for first time test takers and the 64.1 percent pass rate for all Georgia universities.
