Georgia Southwestern State University has been ranked 23rd out of the 100 Most Affordable Small Colleges East of the Mississippi by Great Value Colleges (greatvaluecolleges.net).

Georgia Southwestern is one of less than 10 Georgia colleges that made this list, and it was the only college in Georgia to rank in the top 25, coming in ahead of Young Harris College, Brenau University and Shorter University. Other out of state schools listed behind GSW included Amherst University in Massachusetts, University of South Carolina at Aiken and Charleston Southern University.

In their search for most affordable colleges in the eastern United States, Great Value Colleges looked only at traditional four-year schools with 4,000 students or less. To determine average enrollment at each school, Great Value Schools used College Navigator, an information tool offered by the National Center for Education Statistics.

Recently, Georgia Southwestern received similar recognition as it was ranked 40th out of the 100 Most Affordable Small Colleges in America by bestvalueschools.com. Additionally, Georgia Southwestern’s School of Business Administration and its MBA program were ranked 13th among the 50 most affordable MBA programs in the country by topmanagementdegrees.com. Of the more than 400 qualifying colleges, Great Value Colleges determined the top 100 most affordable by calculating each college’s net price, which is an adjusted price that takes into account the annual cost of tuition and other fees as well as the average financial aid package offered to students.
