Albany Votes to Withdraw From South Georgia Regional Information Technology Authority

The Albany City Commission voted to deliver what could be a crushing blow to the South Georgia Regional Information Technology Authority when it voted Tuesday, at the recommendation of City Manager Sharon Subadan, to discontinue its relationship with the collective, other than in an advisory capacity.
Subadan said she “met for hours with my braintrust” to try to find a way to justify the city’s continued involvement in SGRITA, which was created through U.S. Department of Agriculture funding to provide high-speed telecommunications capability in a seven-county rural area of Southwest Georgia.
