Albany City Commission OKs Downtown Redevelopment Funding Plan

Moments after an extended prebriefing discussion of the meaning of the phrase “surrounding area,” the Albany City Commission voted 5-2 Tuesday evening to approve use of up to $5 million from its Job-Enhancement Fund for downtown redevelopment.
Commissioners expressed concern over an agenda item that stated, “An ordinance establishing a fund for purposes of economic development in downtown Albany Riverfront (district) and surrounding areas.”
