Phoebe Sumter Medical Center has been named the 2015 Most Beautiful Hospital by Soliant Health, a leading specialty healthcare staffing provider and part of Adecco Group. Phoebe Sumter earned this top recognition with 95,426 votes, breaking the record of every hospital that has ever been in the running.

For the seventh year, Soliant Health determined the top 20 hospitals worthy of the “Most Beautiful Hospital in the U.S.” distinction with the help of patients, hospital staff, and supporters through online voting. The month-long voting began May 8, and ended at midnight on June 7, 2015.

“Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is honored to be selected by Soliant for this prestigious award and national recognition,” said Brandi Lunneborg, CEO of Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. “Phoebe Sumter is a beautiful facility with the best a modern hospital has to offer, delivering a patient-centered, healing atmosphere. The physical beauty of the hospital is enhanced daily by the pride, support and love of our staff and our community who are dedicated to its success. We are so excited to share this wonderful award with them and thank them for their continued faith in us to provide them with the best healthcare in southwest Georgia.”

Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is a LEED-certified state-of-the-art facility featuring an eco-friendly rooftop garden, elegant use of natural lights, 76 all-private patient rooms, and HCAHPS scores that exceed national standards on quietness and cleanliness.

The hospital, previously known as Sumter Regional Hospital, has come a long way since being destroyed in 2007 by a F3 tornado. The massive property damage forced the hospital to operate out of temporary facilities and tents donated by FEMA and GEMA before moving into modular buildings. Four years later and after a $21.5 million expansion and renovation, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center opened its doors in December 2011.

“Following the devastating tornado in early 2007, Phoebe was humbled by the confidence that Sumter County healthcare leaders placed in us by allowing us to rebuild their destroyed hospital,” said Joel Wernick, Phoebe Putney Health System President and CEO. “Our goal was to build a hospital for the future that would meet the growing health needs of the citizens of Sumter County and would foster great community pride. This award validates the work and dedication of many over the years. ”

Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is the only hospital in Georgia that made Soliant’s 2015 Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospital list.
