DCSS Elevated From 'High Risk' Title I Status

Finding that the Dougherty County School System has “made significant gains” in overall improvements with its Title I Program, the Georgia Department of Education has eased restrictions under which DCSS has operated for the past 2 1/2 years.

In a letter addressed to Superintendent David “Butch” Mosely, Avis King, deputy superintendent for the Office of School Improvement at the state education department, wrote that the system and state officials have worked cooperatively over the last several years to address issues the state had with the system’s Title I department.
