Monday, April 6th, 2015
Beginning with Fall 2015, Darton State College will offer in-state tuition to residents of Alabama, Florida, and South Carolina who meet the admission requirements.
“We’re extremely pleased to be able to offer in-state tuition to students in these neighboring states. Darton offers many high-quality academic programs, and we are excited that students from our neighboring communities will have an opportunity to earn a degree at Darton for an affordable price,” said Frank Malinowski, interim vice president for enrollment management.
The University System of Georgia’s (USG) Board of Regents approved this border state amendment to the waiver policy for Darton State College and several other institutions during the March 2015 board meeting. This new program will allow institutions to provide a high quality education at an affordable price to nearby students. This opportunity means more students will be working towards a degree completion and meeting the USG’s Complete College Georgia goals of creating a more educated citizenry.
Current in-state tuition for full-time students at Darton State College is $3,834 a year, and out-of-state tuition is $11,242 a year. In order to be eligible for the new in-state tuition program, a student must be able to provide evidence that he or she has established and maintained domicile in the qualifying border state for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the first day of classes. For more information about the new program, call the Office of Admissions at (229) 317-6740.
