Newly Named, Approved Albany Utility Board Holds First Meeting

Approval of $750,000 in budgeted funds for right-of-way clearing and line maintenance was one of the items approved by the newly renamed Albany Utility Board at its first official meeting Thursday morning.
The Albany City Commission gave final approval to the name change for the former Water, Gas & Light Commission as part of a charter change that also allows the utility authority to use its manpower and assets for jurisdictions outside the city limits of Albany and the Dougherty County lines.
