Lonnie Ballard Says No to Albany Deputy City Manager Job

Interim Albany City Manager Tom Berry confirmed Thursday afternoon that Lonnie Ballard has withdrawn his name from consideration for a newly created deputy city manager position with the Albany government.
In a stormy called meeting Tuesday morning, a divided Albany City Commission voted 5-2 to accept Berry’s recommendation to ratify the deputy manager position. Berry made it clear that if the proposal was ratified, he would bring in Ballard, who previously served as assistant city manager under James Taylor, as part of the city’s management team.
