George “Buzz” Busbee Jr. remembers his homeplace at 1205 W. Third Ave. fondly, a place of family and a place of adventure.
“It was the typical family home; we’d have kids over and sneak cigarettes behind the work shop,” Busbee, the son of former Georgia Gov. George Busbee, said during a visit to his old home. “The kitchen was the focal point of family activity. We’d all sit around the table and talk during dinner.”
In the early ’70s, as George Busbee Sr. met with a team of trusted friends at the Third Avenue home to plot a successful run for governor, the house became something more for his family.
