Albany City Commission OKs Tweaks to Sign Ordinance Proposal

The Albany City Commission accepted a couple of “tweaks” Tuesday suggested by Ward IV Commissioner Roger Marietta and voted to move forward with planned amendments to the city’s sign ordinance.

Marietta had asked that the proposed changes, presented by Planning Director Paul Forgey after months-long meetings with a city-appointed Sign Ordinance Task Force, be altered to allow for changes on multiple-message (LED) signs every 10 seconds rather than the 30-second intervals recommended by the task force. Marietta pointed out that billboards on state highways are allowed to change messages at 10-second intervals.
