Westover Extension at Albany Mall Design Phase Set to Begin

Officials with Atlanta-based Croy Engineering told Albany city commissioners Tuesday morning the firm is preparing to start the design phase of the long-planned Westover Extension project that would connect Westover Boulevard with Ledo Road along the western perimeter of the Albany Mall.
The proposal would extend Westover to Ledo Road along the Dougherty/Lee county line under elevated bridges that would be constructed on the U.S. 19 Bypass. Traffic studies have shown that such a project would relieve traffic congestion along Nottingham Way east of the mall, which has long held the distinction as the most dangerous roadway in Albany.
