SunTrust Bank, South Georgia, today announced that SunTrust veteran banker, Reba Stewart, has been named to the bank’s South Georgia Board of Advisors. She recently retired from a banking career that spanned more than 40 years in the Albany market. 

Ms. Stewart joined SunTrust as Manager of its main banking office in Albany and later helped develop and lead the local Private Banking Department. She most recently led the bank’s SunTrust at Work program that provides a financial package of services to employers for their employees. 

“We’re extremely fortunate to be able to add Reba’s special knowledge of the bank and our community to our local Board,” said Jay Montgomery, President and CEO of SunTrust Bank, South Georgia. “This new role will allow our organization and community to benefit from all she has to continue to offer.” 

Active in community service, Ms. Stewart has served on the Boards of the Albany Technical College Foundation, Darton College Foundation, American Heart Association, Palmyra Hospital Corporation of America, as well as serving as a previous Board Member and Treasurer of the Salvation Army, a Board Member and Assistant Secretary of the Albany Local Development Corp,, as well as the Past President of the Southwest Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Bank women, 

Her volunteer work has also extended to leadership positions with many non-profits, including the Albany YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany, Consumer Counseling Services, Women in Net Work, Inc., and Sowega Council on Aging. 

Accolades during her career include Albany’s Women of the Year1988, Albany’s Working Woman of the year in 1985, Graduate of Leadership Albany, Exchange Golden Deed Award, and Girl Scout Women of Excellence Award 1989.
