Stats: Black-Owned Businesses Get Only 1.4% of Dougherty County Retail

Percentage-wise, Georgia has the second-largest number of African-American-owned businesses in the nation, with some 20.4 percent of the state’s businesses falling into that category, according to the latest census figures available.
With only 7.1 percent of American businesses owned by black entrepreneurs, Georgia’s figures are significant.
