Students, alumni, faculty and staff, and the community came together on Friday for the inaugural Darton Day of Giving, raising just over $76,000 for scholarships. 

Gifts were made online, by phone, and in person during the Darton Day of Giving – making Darton State College history for the most contributions made in a single day. This was the first time the College had ever attempted a fundraising campaign of this kind.

The purpose of Darton’s Day of Giving was to bring alumni and the community together to raise money for scholarships and an opportunity to reconnect with the College. All of the money raised will go toward the Darton State College Foundation’s scholarship fund, making the opportunity to attend college more affordable for more students. Each year the Foundation awards more than $300,000 in scholarships to deserving students that without the financial help might not have been able to attend college. 

Also, this week Darton students, administration, faculty, and staff have been giving back to the community that has supported them over the years, by performing community service projects. Campus clubs and organizations have already completed over 300 hours during the Week of Service with projects, including trash pick-up, a book drive, collecting luggage for foster kids, and a food drive.
