Albany State University’s Office of Career Services is the recipient of an early gift from a car rental company. Representatives from Enterprise Rent-A-Car delivered a $2,500 check to show appreciation for the department’s assistance in recruiting ASU graduates on Nov. 17. “I wanted to give back for all of their help in providing talented employees over the years. This is our way of saying thank you,” said Carla Tucholsky, Talent Acquisition Specialist from the Enterprise Holdings office in Montgomery, Ala. Tucholsky, a recruiter in Albany submitted an application to the company’s foundation and received approval for funding.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car area manager Jerry Heidelburg supervises 7 locations in the region. “We have 3 locations in Albany and ASU graduates staff them primarily,” he said. “An ASU alumnus is an Albany branch manager with our company; there are manager trainees and interns. We employ many ASU graduates,” Heidelburg continued.
ASU Career Services Director Glorya Williams said the donation will be put to good use. “The donation will enhance existing programs for students and alumni such as the annual etiquette dinner. We can also bring in a facilitator for a specialty workshop,” Williams said.
Representatives may have another ASU recruit. Ashley Kimble, a member of the Career Services Student Advisory Board attended the check presentation. ”Sometimes we’re unable to plan activities that we’d like because of budget limitations. The contribution provides a great opportunity to expand,” she said. After the brief ceremony, Kimble took advantage of the chance to network and discuss internship opportunities. “I talked about joining their team today. I didn’t know they accepted all majors. I’m definitely thinking about applying for their internship program this spring.”
The psychology major from Hiram, Ga. is proud of her customer service experience gleaned over the last year and a half which she hopes to leverage.
