The Albany State University Department of Nursing partnered with the Early Learning Center and the Department of Health and Human Performance on a collaborative project to examine the human growth and development of children.
Students from both departments who are enrolled in the Human Growth and Development course engaged children who attend the center in a project to demonstrate the maturation and coordination of fine and gross motor skills across the early childhood stages of life. Students engaged ELC students in play with an array of selected physical activities and games. The exercise was held on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 and enhanced the students’ classroom knowledge as they observed the contrast in fine and gross motor skills in children in several age groups.
“This project also acknowledges how several ASU departments can collaborate to reach a common goal,” said Edna Boyd Jones, ASU nursing department professor for the Human Growth and Development course, and the lead instructor on this project.
