The Darton State College Foundation is gearing up to host its first-ever Darton Day of Giving, a one-day online fundraising event, on November 6, 2014. 

DartonDay of Giving is a day for the whole community to come together to raise money for scholarships and an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with their alma mater. Money raised will go toward the Foundation’s scholarship fund, making the opportunity to attend college more affordable for more students. 

“Each dollar raised during our Day of Giving will benefit a Darton student,” said Cynthia George, interim chief advancement officer. “And, while the funds raised go to student scholarships, for some, they are the first generation to attend college.  When you give to the Darton Foundation, you are changing the lives of students everyday by making it possible for the brightest and best students to attend college… regardless of their personal circumstances. I don’t think we stop to realize what an impact this can have on our economy and our community.” 

Also that week, Darton will kick-off a Week of Service that will run November 2-8. During the week, administration, faculty and staff, and students will be giving back to the community that has supported us over the years, by performing community service projects. The Week of Service is the College’s way to say ‘thank you’ and pay it forward for the generous donations and support. Campus clubs and organizations have already started signing up for the Week of Service with projects, including trash pick-up, a book drive, and a food drive.   

Participants can use the hashtag #DartonDayofGiving on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter posts to be a part of the conversation and share why you donated. Through out the day, staff will post updates and share challenges from other givers.
