Thursday, June 12th, 2014
The Downtown Fresno Partnership has ended its nationwide search for a new leader - tapping Albany Downtown City Manager Aaron Blair to head up the organization.
Blair will begin his position in July. He replaces interim president and CEO Craig Scharton.
As the downtown city manager in Albany, Blair was instrumental in recruiting more than 28 new businesses to the area and attracting $4 million in new private investment.
Blair provided the following response to Albany CEO:
My family and I have decided to take a position in Fresno, CA. I wish I could have told each of you in person. We have been completely blown away by the acceptance and support that our family has received here in Albany. Thank you for believing in Downtown Albany and putting for such amazing commitment to better our city. You all are the future of Downtown and I truly believe we are at a tipping point of success. Everything will continue to move forward as planned. If any of you need anything or have questions please feel free to ask. We will miss you all. We will stay connected.
Established in January 2011, the Downtown Fresno Partnership is funded through an assessment on downtown property owners to beautify the area and promote downtown's image to residents and businesses.
Albany CEO will have a in depth feature on Blair's time in Albany later this month.
