Summer camp means summer fun! Meet new people and make new friends as you take off on an adventure exploring nature and science with the Flint RiverQuarium and Thronateeska Heritage Center. Get on board to investigate aquatic critters, canoe at Radium Springs, dive in for a swim and test your rock wall climbing skills. You will also travel through the oceans of space, and much, much more. Each day will be filled with a myriad of activities to educate and entertain. Your child’s week also will include hands-on activities, exhibit exploration tours, Imagination Theater movies, crafts, up-close animal encounters, a t-shirt, snacks and Splish, Splash Water Bash. So come on out and join our summer fun, where we believe “hands-on equals minds-on.”

Dinosaur Camp:  May 28-30
Ages: 7-9
Time: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Cost: $90 members, $100 nonmembers.

Did you know that the word “Dinosaur” literally means “terrible lizard?” We will introduce the campers to the wondrous world of dinosaurs! Step into our Earth’s dynamic past with fossils, dinosaur eggs and volcanoes.  Discover the actual size of these enormous creatures and come face to face with their closest living relatives.  View descendants of the flying dinosaurs in the Flint RiverQuarium Aviary. We look forward to a “Dino-mite” camp with our future paleontologists.

Water Adventures:  June 2-6
Ages 8-11
Time 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Cost $130 members, $140 nonmembers.

Campers will soak up first-hand knowledge and appreciation for our Flint River, Georgia’s longest river. Explore the natural habitat of our Flint using aqua scopes to discover what lies beneath! Observe and experience the Flint by testing the waters for pollution while using microscopes and water filters to take a closer look at what’s lurking in the water. Come join us on this great water journey and learn about the river that is right in our own backyard.

Wild & Wacky Science: June 9-13
Ages 8-11
Time 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Cost $130 members, $140 nonmembers.

Get ready for fizz, bang and pop!  Become a “mad scientist” while mixing up NEW science magic this season.  Through daily experiments we will uncover science secrets by creating atomic slime, making tornadoes and launching rockets. Campers will discover the exciting world of science and meet some of our favorite residents, from our big toothed alligators to our playful blue jay and everything in between. Your child will leave with new friends and science secrets.  Share if you dare!

Small Fry:  June 16-20
Ages 5-6
Time 8 a.m. – Noon
Cost $60 members, $70 nonmembers

Each day children will explore nature and all of its tricks. Their eyes will be open wide to all the wonders surrounding them through fun-filled hands-on activities such as animal encounters, crafts, games and exploration.  Play hide-and-seek with the animals. Go on a turtle hunt. Learn why birds migrate. Make new discoveries at the touch tank. A world of excitement awaits your “fry” at the Flint RiverQuarium!

Camp Aquatica: June 23-27   
Ages:  12-14
Time:  8 a.m. -5 p.m.
Cost:    $150.00 member,$160.00 nonmember

Whether you are looking for fun with water or outdoor activities, this is the camp for you! Take a journey to the heart of southwest Georgia, also called one of the “Seven Wonders of Georgia,” Radium Springs, for a very unique canoeing experience. Your camper will also experience Darton State College’s rock climbing wall and indoor swimming pool. During this week long session, campers will learn all about water, one of Earth’s most important resources, conduct science experiments and tests, explore local water history and ecology, get up close and personal with water critters, and “cool down” in the water with fun games and activities. Your camper will also “soak” up all the fun and knowledge about the Flint River, Georgia’s longest river with us this summer. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity!

Be prepared to be outdoors, indoors, and in the water. Sun protection is encouraged.
