DOCO Credit Union Awards $6,000 in Scholarships

DOCO Credit Union will honor four award recipients' with $6,000 in scholarship prizes on Thursday, May 22nd at its Main Branch located at 107 N. Westover Blvd., Albany at 2 pm. The winners are Emily Royal from Fitzgerald High School, Amelia Middlebrooks from Deerfield Windsor School, Allyn Jones from Westover High School and Andrew May who is homeschooled.
Andrew May, one of the scholarship recipients, says, "When I received the call and was told that I was to receive the DOCO scholarship, it was like a breath of fresh air. It made me realize that all my hard work throughout high school was finally paying off. I was ecstatic."
For ten years, DOCO has been awarding these $1,500 scholarships to worthy students to assist them as they strive for higher education. The candidate pool of over 50 was required to submit an application, letter of recommendation, transcript and written essay. In the past, DOCO would give out two scholarships, but due to the caliber of students applying along with their academics, extra curricular activities and qualifications the decision was made to award four. DOCO Credit Union is committed to providing the highest level of excellence to our communities by honoring students who work hard to better themselves.
