Color the Grove 5K is Back May 3
Press release from the issuing company
Monday, April 21st, 2014
Darton Boosters and the Flint RiverQuarium are painting the town Saturday, May 3, with a colorful 5k run through the streets of historic downtown Albany and along the Riverfront Trail.
Ideal both for casual walkers and serious runners, the Color the Grove 5K is more of an experience than an athletic event. Participants begin the run in a white t-shirt; along the way, volunteers will shower them with non-toxic colored powder at each of the six color stations before reaching the finish line, and joining in the party with a rainbow of runners and spectators.
The Color the Grove 5K will begin at 10 a.m. on May 3 in the 100 block of Front Street in downtown Albany. Pre-registration and packet pick-up will be Friday evening, May 2 from 3-7 p.m. and day-of-race registrations and packet pick-up from 8-9:30 a.m., both at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, located at 112 Front Street.
Runners will have the option of having the race timed or participating just for fun. Runners of all ages and abilities are encouraged to come out and join the fun. Awards will be given to those who choose to participate in the timed event in the following categories: masters male and female, overall male and female, male and female 10 and under, and age groups (11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 and over).
Individuals can pre-register for $30 until April 30; beginning April 30 registration is $35. Groups of four can pre- register for $100 per group until April 30. No group registration after 5 pm, April 30. Entry fees include custom race t-shirt, a bag of color and free admission to the Flint RiverQuarium on race day only. Participants can pre-register at raceroster.com.
