ASU College of Business professor Dr. Kathaleena Edward Monds is a new appointee to the Social Studies Steering Committee of the Georgia Department of Education. In conjunction with the State Board of Education the committee develops curricular resources for social studies, including economics education and fiscal responsibility. Monds is one of only 20 individuals selected throughout the state to serve on this committee.
As a member Monds will specifically work on high school economics, and assemble instructional and information technology materials that align with all social studies domains. “This is a great opportunity for me to serve the K-12 teachers in Southwest Georgia in a way that creates a partnership with higher education and secondary education,” said Monds.
Monds has extensive information and instructional technology skills and wide-ranging knowledge of economics and entrepreneurship.
The committee will work intensively between April-August with recommendations due for public review by September.
