Albany Mall Sbarro Closes

The Albany Mall has one less tenant in its food court now that Sbarro Pizza has closed in wake of the company’s recent bankruptcy filing.
The Albany Mall Sbarro location closed its doors at the end of February as parent company Sbarro, LLC announced that it is seeking bankruptcy protection for the second time in three years.
The pizza chain and its 33 affiliates, which have locations in more than 40 countries, filed for bankruptcy protection after struggling with large debts and reduced traffic in many of its mall locations, according to news reports.
As part of the company’s efforts to clean up the balance sheet, Sbarro recently closed 180 locations and announced plans to shed roughly 50 more in the coming months.
