Organizers of this weekend’s Quail Albany Foundation Celebrity Conservation Hunt are facing the kind of “problem” planners of such events love to have.

“Since word has spread throughout the community that the focus of the Celebrity Hunt is on this area, not some national organization, the response has just been amazing,” Quail Albany President Bill Bowles said Monday as he and other supporters of the local and national Quail Forever organization took care of final details for the influx of visitors to Albany and area plantations. “As a matter of fact, we’ve had so many tremendous auction items donated, we may not be able to auction them all off.

“We have a professional auctioneer — Tom McGinnis of Iron Horse Auctions — who will run the auction, and what they like to do is come in and set up the order of the auction based on the value of the items. They’re having a fit. … There are so many tremendous items they’re having a tough time figuring the order. That’s a nice problem to have, but it just shows the interest of our community. We’ve never had this many (auction) items before.”
