MetroPower of Albany Names Danny Gibson President

Danny Gibson, newly appointed president and COO of MetroPower, Inc. based in Albany, is proud to say he is first and foremost an electrician.

“Electricians are the heart and soul of our companies,” he said. “I know how hard they work; I’ve done it all”

Gibson took control of the company on Jan. 1 that has more than 400 employees with operations primarily in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Alabama.

Gibson has 35 years in the business; He began working at MetroPower in 1988. One of his first directives was to start MaconPower in Georgia, 1990, then assist growth in the Carolinas as CarolinaPower in Greenville and Columbia, SC, 1999. MetroPower Inc. has operations in Albany, GA-Albany Electric, ESS, MetroServices and Albany Plumbing; Hazlehurst, GA- AE Industrial; Norcross, GA- MetroPower; Miramar Beach, FL another MetroPower; Columbus, GA-Columbus Power; Janesville, WI-Carroll Electric.

MetroPower does construction projects in many sectors including: industrial, healthcare, commercial, education, sports/leisure, low voltage, data centers, government and Department of Defense. Gibson sees his mission as ensuring the company “continues to be recognized as the premier electrical contracting company in the southeast United States.” The company logo is easily recognized on all vehicles bearing the distinctive white, black and red figure throwing a lightning bolt.

What are ways to continue to create value for customers, employees and shareholders? “We provide a culture where everyone seeks continuous improvement through waste elimination. That drives down costs, provides excellent service and makes customers happy. I tell employees to be all you can and want to be. Our employees like working for a company with a good reputation.’”

Gibson and his wife live in Macon. They have one grown son and daughter. Over the years, Gibson has served several non-profits ranging from United Way, Rotary Club, Macon Chamber of Commerce and Robins Air Force Base Honorary Commander. He feels privileged for nine years to have been part of the MEDCEN Foundation at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. He rotated off the board in 2013.
