MAE’s “2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities” provides prospective students with information about institutions that offer special services to men and women in uniform. ASU was selected through a competitive process that included the evaluation of online learning options, an on-campus ROTC program, active duty/veteran assistance and faculty trained in veteran reintegration issues and support to military.

“Our staff used strict criteria to evaluate the submissions of the respondents, and we had a record number of schools participating this year,” said Kelly Fodel, MAE’s editor. “We believe the guide serves as an invaluable tool for both education services and transition officers when advising service members about educational opportunities,” Fodel added.

“This selection is significant for ASU as it affirms our commitment to providing a military supportive campus culture for our military men and women and their families,” said Dr. Patricia Wilson, interim associate provost for enrollment management.

The guide is available as a digital edition and an online searchable database and contains an overview of selected schools; also a list of frequently asked questions pertinent to students with a military background, such as a description of the institution’s military culture and flexibility.

“The tool is a tremendous resource for military applicants. It empowers them to make informed choices in their selection of a designated military-friendly institution such as ASU,” Wilson said.
