Members of the Dougherty County Commission’s Finance Committee were given an upbeat first-quarter financial report Monday morning following a brief commission business meeting.

County Administrator Richard Crowdis told the three-person Finance Committee the county had collected 22 percent of its budgeted revenues in the July-September period, the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2014, while laying out roughly 22 percent of budgeted expenditures.

“Essentially, you could say we’ve collected 22 percent of 25 percent,” Crowdis said, noting that some $19 million in property taxes were not due until December. “You’ll see the numbers (of revenue collections) go up significantly during this quarter.”

Since revenues and expenditures are not always collected or paid at scheduled intervals, Crowdis said some of the numbers from the first-quarter report are skewed. Still, he said the $4,067,444 in year-to-date revenue collections and the $9,512,042 in actual expenditures (plus another $3 million in encumbered amounts) is “about where we want to be at this time.”
