Albany Visitors Bureau Launches Online Calendar
Friday, September 6th, 2013
The Albany Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) has launched a new online community-sourced calendar, AlbanyGACalendar.com.
All local businesses, merchants, charities and individuals can visit the online calendar and add their coming community events. CVB officials said they saw the need for a comprehensive online calendar that was accessible to everyone in the community for either posting events or discovering what was coming up in the city.
Features of the new calendar include viewing the information as a Posterboard, Stream, by Month, Week or Day, and viewers can select to add events posted on the community calendar to their personal calendars (iCal, Outlook, Google, etc.). New features available to event organizers include a map to the venue location and an image specific to their event.
“The new site is a great promotional tool for organizations hosting special events. Offering free publicity, AlbanyGACalendar.com provides a great opportunity to reach the public, which results in greater attendance, not only by attracting local residents, but also by appealing to family, friends and visitors from other areas,” said Albany CVB Tourism Manager Rashelle Beasley.
Beasley added that “AlbanyGACalendar.com is designed to provide local residents and visitors with a free online resource to easily navigate the wealth of art, cultural and recreational events in the Albany area.”
To submit an event to the AlbanyGACalendar.com, click the green button labeled “+Post Your Event.” Once the event has been submitted, it will be reviewed by the Albany CVB and, upon approval, posted. The inclusion of photographs or other graphics with each event submitted is recommended.
