The Albany State University campus community will convene Aug 8 – 9 to officially open the fall semester.    

"Access—Progress—Success: It’s Everybody’s Business" is the event’s theme and provides the focus for over 25 workshops. President Everette J. Freeman jumpstarts the 2-day gathering with a “State of the University” address.  Other activities include a panel discussion by ASU Vice Presidents about timely issues that impact the campus community, and a session designed to educate faculty and staff about how to spot the warning signs of students in crisis. ASU experts will also share valuable information aimed at demystifying the financial aid process and fostering a better understanding and appreciation of IT security.

“We’re ready to begin another exciting year of academic success, emphasizing campus and community engagement, punctuated by outstanding customer service to all of our stakeholders,” said event co-chair Connie Leggett, Director of Title III Program.   

Dr. Leroy Bynum, dean of the university's College of Arts and Humanities and conference co-chair, will unveil the 2013-2014 T. Marshall Jones Fine Arts and Lyceum Performance series.

This year, back by popular demand, are experts from Phoebe Putney’s Diabetes Care and Clinical Nutrition Services to offer ASU employees information about "healthy lifestyles and healthy eating." 

The conference concludes with a relaxing time of fun, food and fellowship.  ASU’s “family reunion” festival features food, entertainment, karaoke and a “vendor’s showcase”. Area businesses will take part in the festival by showcasing their products and services.
