ASU College of Business student Raymond Collier has been awarded a $5,000 tuition scholarship from the National Society of Leadership and Success.

The scholarship is presented to a collegiate student based on the strength of their application and recommendations from faculty. Collier is a senior, business information systems major and maintains a 3.6 grade point average.

“I am honored and humbled by the National Society of Leadership and Success' choice to choose me as their fall 2013 recipient of the Financial Aid Tuition Scholarship. The organization has proven to be honest, fair, and a help to the community, said Carter. “I recommend that my peers who are invited to join, to do so, it will empower you through encouragement, knowledge, and networking. Thank you NSLS for helping me to achieve my goals,” he added.

Collier was recently inducted into the organization and showcased his leadership skills during a Human-Computer Interaction course where he developed a prototype for an innovative product and submitted his idea to the Lockheed-Martin Innovative Challenge.

“Our Business Information Systems students are afforded opportunities in the classroom that make such an award a viable option for the continuation of their learning experiences. Mr. Collier’s tremendous academic acumen is evident in his commitment to working hard and striving for the best,” said ASU Professor of Business Information Systems and Co-Director of the Center for Economic Education/Small and Minority Entrepreneurship Dr. Kathleena Edward Monds.

Collier attended Mitchell-Baker High School located in Camilla, and will earn his college degree in December. On Aug. 27 he will travel with a group of his classmates to visit Clemson University's Human-Centered Computing Division to learn about graduate school opportunities and how to continue developing his product idea into an entrepreneurial venture through the African-American Entrepreneurs in Information Technology initiative, founded by Dr. Juan Gilbert professor and chair of the Human Centered Computing Division in the School of Computing at Clemson University
