New General Heading LOGCOM
Monday, July 29th, 2013
There's a new general in town.
Maj. Gen. John J. Broadmeadow officially assumed command of Marine Corps Logistics Command, a tenant command of Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany, during an assumption-of-command ceremony Friday on the parade field in front of the LOGCOM headquarters building on base.
Broadmeadow previously held the position of commanding general, 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade, aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. -- the same position his predecessor, Maj. Gen. Chuck Hudson, held before taking the LOGCOM post.
Broadmeadow has been watching LOGCOM since early in his career. He had the opportunity to visit the operations in Albany as a lieutenant, and not long ago was able to see more on the significance of the command's mission -- which is to maintain the equipment utilized by Marines in harm's way -- while on deployment in the Middle East.
