Be a Part of Developing Albany's Workforce February 5th

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

Kicking off on February 5, 2013, Job Shadow 2013 provides job shadowing opportunities for students throughout the country. Turner Job Corps is proud to participate in its own Student Job Shadow Day on February 5. Job shadowing is designed to give students an opportunity to "shadow" a professional during their daily work activities. It inspires students to be enthusiastic about their studies by showing them the correlation between what they learn here on center and how it is used in the workplace and we would like you or a company representative to serve as a mentor.

How it works
Beginning at 9 am, selected students will visit your company, “shadow” you for 3 hours and participate in workplace activities. We will provide the students with orientation materials to explain the services your company provides, transportation to and from the shadow site, and expectations for the day.

Participants
We would like to have at least 2 employees to volunteer to be workplace hosts (employees who wish to be shadowed) for the day. The workplace hosts will be given guidelines on how to perform their roles in advance. Volunteers must be committed to taking some time to explain his or her role to students. Please let me know if you or anyone in your company is interested in being a workplace host by January 18, 2013.
