SunTrust Simplifies Personal Checking Disclosures

Press release from the issuing company

Thursday, December 6th, 2012

SunTrust Banks, Inc. has added new disclosures for its personal checking accounts based upon recommendations from Pew's Safe Checking in the Electronic Age Project.  The new disclosures provide a more simplified, consumer friendly format for information regarding key fees and policies to help clients and potential clients compare and choose the account that best suits their personal needs.

"At SunTrust, we are focused on lighting the way to financial well-being for existing and potential clients," said Whitney Stewart, Mass Market Segment & Value Added Services Executive at SunTrust.  "Providing clearer, more concise information about our products and services in a more standardized format aligns with that purpose."

"As more and more banks adopt greater transparency about the fees, terms, and conditions that apply to accounts, consumers are able to educate themselves, understand the products they are using, and comparison shop to find the best product to meet their needs,"  said Susan Weinstock, director of Pew's Safe Checking in the Electronic Age Project. "We commend SunTrust for moving to this simplified format."

The new disclosures can be found online at the following link -- Account Overview Guides & Disclosures -- and will be available at all SunTrust branches.
