As part of a statewide tour of military-base communities, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., will be in Albany to discuss the impact that the potential budget sequestration will have on our national security, our military and on Georgia’s defense infrastructure. 
 
Chambliss, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, will be joined by Congressman Sanford Bishop, D-Ga., local officials and community leaders. 
 
Leading military officials, including Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, have warned that sequestration will adversely affect America’s military. He noted that if the military sustains $1 trillion in cuts over the next decade, "we would have the smallest ground forces since 1940, the smallest number of ships since 1915, and the smallest Air Force in history." 
 
Chambliss’ tour also includes stops in Savannah, Augusta, Columbus, Cobb County, Warner Robins, Valdosta, and Kings Bay, as he continues to talk about the need for the federal government to control spending in a responsible way.
