While the number of IT jobs continued to grow in June, the rate of growth slowed compared to prior months.  According to TechServe Alliance, a collaboration of IT services firms, clients, consultants and suppliers, the number of IT jobs grew only 1,500 in June to 4,183,600. Although this was a gain of only 0.04 percent from the previous month, IT jobs are up more than 117,000 from year ago levels, or a growth of 2.9 percent year-over-year.

"I would be careful about reading too much into the decline in the rate of growth in a single month," commented Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance. "Given the dynamic nature of the labor market for IT professionals, there will be an inevitable ebb and flow of monthly numbers.  Based on the longer-term trend line as well as the anecdotal reports of my member companies, demand for IT professionals remains strong," added Roberts.

Despite the slowdown in the rate of growth, June marks the sixth consecutive month IT employment reached another all-time high.
