22% of Georgia Construction Firms to Shed Jobs

More American construction firms are planning to hire workers this year than are planning to make layoffs, but construction firms in Georgia are mostly unsure, according to the results of an industry-wide survey published Monday by the Associated General Contractors of America and Navigant.
Some 55 percent of U.S. construction firms laid off staff and only 20 percent of firms added employees in 2010, but 27 percent of construction firms plan to add staff and 20 percent plan layoffs in 2011.
