Georgia’s personal income fell 1.7 percent a year ago, tying the national average decline of 1.7 percent, according to estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Personal income is defined as income received by all persons from all sources, that is, the sum of net earnings by place of residence, property income, and personal current transfer receipts.

Georgia also ranked 39th in the nation in terms of its per capita personal income, or personal income divided by population. BEA reported per capita personal income fell 2.6 percent nationally in 2009 after rising 2.0 percent in 2008. More at ABC
