The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) today released its latest economic impact report, showing that Georgia hospitals generate $145 billion in economic activity across the state. The report, compiled using independent third-party modeling and based on 2024 data, reflects an $8 billion, or 5.8%, increase over the previous year.

Beyond providing high-quality care and critical health services to millions of Georgians each year, hospitals are among the state’s most important economic engines. For every dollar spent by a hospital, $2.11 is generated in state and local economic activity. Hospitals also create and support over 590,000 full- and part-time jobs statewide and throughout a wide range of industries.

“Georgia hospitals are essential to both the health and economic vitality of our state,” said GHA President and CEO Caylee Noggle. “This report highlights the tremendous impact hospitals have far beyond their walls – creating jobs, supporting local businesses, strengthening communities, and generating economic opportunity in every corner of Georgia. A strong hospital is not only essential to a healthy community, but it’s also an important part of a healthy local economy.”

GHA’s economic impact report highlights the broad reach of Georgia hospitals, including jobs and wages supported, tax contributions, and expenditures.
