Diamond Door Products, a Texas commercial and industrial steel manufacturer, has chosen Albany to expand its operation. The new location, expected to be fully operational early in the New Year 2024, is actively moving equipment in and working on the setup. Diamond’s Albany facility will create 25 new jobs and house more than 100 manufacturing units within their first two years.
“Dougherty County is excited to tap into a new industry,” said Lorenzo Heard, Dougherty County Commission Chairman. “Diamond Door has a great reputation among its customers and employees. Steve Curry has met with the Economic Development Commission several times and is dedicated to using local resources for this project. As a family-owned and operated company, their values match those of our community and we’re thrilled to have them here.”
Diamond, celebrating 20 years of business, was established in 2003 to provide quality products for the metal building industry with a personal touch.
“We are one of the few door manufacturers that is still family owned and operated, which allows us the independence and ability to facilitate quick turnarounds with a customer experience that is simply ‘A cut above the competition,’” said Steve Curry, President of Diamond Door Products. “Our deep commitment to service our customers and mitigate freight costs is what drove us East. Albany puts us in a strategic location to better service many existing accounts, while providing the opportunity to build new relationships and extent our product reach.”
The company is intentional with everything they do and is proud to deliver reliable components that will bring ease to builders and their installers. With well over 100 years of collective industry experience, Diamond's vast knowledge can assist with most building component needs to fit several different applications.
“We are fortunate to have the existing infrastructure to support this expansion and more importantly, an eager and dedicated staff at the Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission, who worked hard to bring this expansion to Albany,” said Bo Dorough, Mayor of Albany. “This new industry will have lasting effects on our community as it opens the door for more business and investments.”
Diamond’s Albany location will mirror its manufacturing operation at its Texas headquarters. Diamond Door Products manufactures steel doors and frames, windows, hardware, and specialty items. As a full-line supplier, Diamond primarily focuses on the metal building industry. However, it also provides products for modular buildings, tilt-up walls, and general commercial, industrial, and agricultural sectors.
“We are excited to welcome Diamond to Albany and believe their operation will be a huge success here,” said Chris Hatcher, Chairman of the Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission. “Out of all the potential places to expand, Albany was chosen for its strategic location as the Southwest hub of Georgia. By expanding in Albany, Diamond will be able to better serve this region’s customers as well as gain new customers they might not have been able to reach from Texas. We’re excited to have them here and are looking forward to seeing the impact they make on our community.”
“Southwest Georgia continues to attract manufacturers interested in moving closer to strategic markets, which diversifies the local industry mix,” said Kristi Brigman, Deputy Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “Albany and Dougherty County have worked with technical colleges and workforce development programs to provide local Georgians – including active duty and retired service members – the opportunity to upskill, find work, and be part of a healthy community.”
