Albany State Prepares for “The Greatest Homecoming Of All Time”

Preparations are well underway as Albany State University (ASU) and the city of Albany gear up for the 2019 ASU Homecoming celebration held Oct. 7 – 12. This year’s theme, “The Greatest Of All Time,” mixes old and new traditions to celebrate the institution’s excellence.

Students, alumni, community members and supporters will enjoy a variety of festive activities. Topping the lineup of events is the official Homecoming kick-off at noon on Monday, Oct. 7 at the ASU Student Center Amphitheatre (East).

The week continues with the Homecoming Street Festival on Wednesday, Oct. 9 in downtown Albany. Get ready for a night of fun, food, and music from 8 – 11 p.m. beginning at the 100 block of Pine Avenue.

The coronation of the 2019-2020 Miss Albany State University, Fahren Nipple, and the Royal Court will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10 in the J Building Theater (West). This event is free and open to the public.

Homecoming Convocation is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 11, in the HPER Gymnasium (East). The Official Homecoming Concert: Maze featuring Frankie Beverly will be held Friday evening at the Albany Civic Center. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets begin at $36 and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com.

The weeklong Homecoming celebration continues on Saturday, Oct. 12, with the Homecoming Parade at 9 a.m. along Pine Avenue. The Homecoming Yard Fest will follow at 11 a.m. on the ASU East Campus. Fans will then head to the Albany State University Coliseum (East) where the Golden Rams football team will take on the Lane College Dragons at 2 p.m.
