Broad Avenue Memorial Bridge to Re-Open with Ceremony

After nearly seven years since it’s closing, the Broad Avenue Bridge is set to re-open on Veteran’s Day with a ceremony honoring local war veterans. Formerly referred to as the “Broad Avenue Bridge”, the structure will now officially be titled “Broad Avenue Memorial Bridge”, in honor of its dedication to Dougherty County veterans.

Phoebe Foundation Announces 2015 Lights of Love Tree Lighter

The Phoebe Foundation announced today that breast cancer survivor, Heather Yeiser, of Albany, has been named the 2015 Lights of Love tree lighter, highlighting the 33rd year of the annual holiday fundraising event for Southwest Georgia cancer patients. Yeiser will help open the holiday season by lighting the 40 ft. tree during the December 1st ceremony held outside the Phoebe Cancer Center.

ADEDC Receives International Award for Program of Work

The Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission received the Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for the development, implementation and results of its program of work. The silver award was received in the category of Multiyear Economic Development Programming for communities with populations of 25,000 - 200,000.
