WebstaurantStore, an online retailer of restaurant supplies and equipment, announced it plans to open its newest distribution and fulfillment center in an existing 472,000-square-foot facility in Albany.  The move represents an investment of $10 million over the next three years and will create 150 jobs. Hiring is expected to begin in December.

"The announcement is a great start to economic development activity in 2015," said Justin Strickland, president of the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal officially announced the WebstaurantStore investment on February 19.  The announcement culminated a highly competitive, quick-turnaround site-selection process that included a site visit to Albany in May 2014.

"The project flowed through project managers at the Georgia Department of Economic Development," Strickland said.

"They identified potential sites in the state for the company.  One of the WebstaurantStore site selectors attended the Georgia Quail Hunt in the 1990s and he remembered Albany.  It's great that efforts to create memories of Albany led to new jobs and economic activity for the area."

According to Strickland, Albany is one of the most attractive sites for worldwide distribution and logistics effectiveness.  The area's transportation infrastructure, workforce and low cost of doing business make it an attractive location to efficiently serve a worldwide customer base. Among others, Pfizer, MillerCoors, Coats & Clark, Outdoor Network and Marine Depot Maintenance Command aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany distribute nationally and internationally from Albany.

Headquartered in Lancaster, Pa., WebstaurantStore provides restaurant supplies and equipment to the foodservice industry, restaurant operators and other individual customers located around the world.  Since its founding in 2004 as a division of Clark Associates, WebstaurantStore has shipped more than 4 million orders.

Albany will be the fifth warehouse location for WebstaurantStore and will serve the Southeast market.  The company has warehouse locations in Leola, Pa., Madisonville, Ky., Dayton, Nev., and Cumberland, Md.  The expanding distribution network is designed to help meet the company's goal of providing one-day shipping to its customers.
