Existing Industries Partner for United Way Day of Caring
Friday, April 17th, 2015
Members of the Albany-Dougherty Industry Roundtable today will partner with the United Way of Southwest Georgia on its Day of Caring to lend their time and support for volunteer projects throughout the community.
“Albany-Dougherty County’s existing industries are committed to increasing the economic vitality of our community and region, both through business growth and through support of initiatives such as Day of Caring, which demonstrates the positive impact of working together toward a common cause,” said Justin Strickland, president of the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission.
The roundtable, organized by the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission, provides a forum for existing industries to share resources, build relationships and exchange best practices.
Day of Caring is a national program of the United Way. Locally, the United Way of Southwest Georgia coordinates hundreds of volunteers for dozens of projects throughout the Albany area.
“Day of Caring is one way in which the United Way of Southwest Georgia addresses the urgent issues facing our community and region. The support of our industries is critical to that effort, and to all of our initiatives aimed at improving the conditions of our friends and neighbors,” said LaKisha Bryant Bruce, CEO of the United Way of Southwest Georgia.
Day of Caring and the industry service projects coincide with Albany-Dougherty Industry Celebration Week, a time during which the ADEDC celebrates and promotes the impact of the community’s existing industries.
