Nominations are open for the Albany-­‐Dougherty Economic Development Commission’s annual Industry Awards, which recognize the successes of the community’s existing industries. The awards application deadline is March 6; winners will be announced at an awards breakfast on April 15.

The ADEDC Industry Awards recognize the accomplishments of existing industries in four categories:

• Economic Impact
• Excellence in Innovation
• Global Commerce
• Corporate Community Citizenship (Good Life City Award)

The Industry Awards are part of Albany-­‐Dougherty Industry Celebration Week, a weeklong community-­‐wide appreciation of the community’s existing industries, hosted by the Albany-­‐Dougherty EDC.

“Albany-­‐Dougherty County’s existing industries are the foundation of its diversified economy, from health care to manufacturing to distribution to call centers, and they are having successes in many areas,” said Justin Strickland, president of the Albany-­‐ Dougherty Economic Development Commission. “We promote our existing industries every day, but through the awards we pay special tribute to their accomplishments and contributions to the local, national and global economy.”

Nominations/applications are due March 6.

To be eligible for the awards:

• Award-eligible industrial sectors are manufacturing, distribution/logistics, health care, call centers.
• Companies must be based in Albany-Dougherty County.
• Companies are not eligible to win in the same category within a three-­‐year period.
• Companies must meet a minimum requirement of having been in business for the three years.

Award winners will be announced at the Industry Awards Rise n Shine breakfast, at 7:30 a.m. on April 15 at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Albany. To register for the breakfast, visit albanyga.com.

Though the awards are the keystone of industry week, the celebration includes activities throughout the week:

• Wednesday, April 15th - ADEDC Industry Awards Rise n Shine breakfast, 7:30 a.m., Hilton Garden Inn
• Thursday, April 16th - ADEDC Industry Cup Golf Tournament o Business After Hours, 5:30 p.m., Doublegate Country Club
• • Friday, April 17th - Day of Caring, in partnership with the Albany-­Dougherty Economic Development Commission and the United Say of Southwest Georgia
