Picking up in 2013 

Residential and commercial sales activity began to pick up in January, according to Callie and Katie.  Houses that had been on the market for a while began selling in the first quarter, which is typically a slower period for the industry.

“Market activity indicates that home prices have started to stabilize in our area. We tell our sellers, if a home is priced right it will sell,” said Callie.

The combination of growing consumer confidence and low interest rates has made it easier for people to consider more expensive homes than they might have in the past.  However, the financing process remains arduous.

"We try to make everything else as easy as possible because we know the financing process can be very stringent," Katie said.

Three for one

Being family owned and operated makes Hughey & Neuman, Inc. unique among their competition. Sharon, Callie and Katie all work together for every client.

"Clients get three agents for the price of one," Callie said.  "One of us is always available."

The firm works with all types of sellers and buyers including first-time buyers, those looking to move up and those looking to downsize. They cover properties in all price ranges in both Lee and Dougherty counties. The majority of their business comes through repeat clients and referrals.

"We pride ourselves on taking care of our clients and paying attention to every detail," Katie said. "We want to be around for another 60 years."
