Katz Floorcovering Finds Opportunities with National Partners
Wednesday, March 13th, 2013
In 2012, Katz Floorcovering became a franchisee of Abbey Carpet & Floor, a national flooring distributor comprised of 800 locally owned and operated showrooms across the United States and Canada. In addition, the Katz Leesburg showroom underwent a full remodel with all new displays and fresh paint. Market response has been very encouraging.
"Since joining the Abbey Group the improvement in our business has been exciting to say the least. Not only have we had an increase in sales, average ticket amounts have increased and the quality of flooring we have been selling has improved," said Chuck Katz, who owns Katz Floorcovering, Inc. along with his wife Sara.
"Our showroom has been updated with all the new styles of every kind of floor you can imagine – from wood, laminate and vinyl to some of the softest carpet ever manufactured. We even have carpet made from corn if you can believe that."
Katz Floorcovering is family owned and operated. With its new affiliation with Abbey, Katz now offers six carpet manufacturers and a full selection across the color spectrum, as well as wood, laminate and other floor coverings. According to Katz, approximately 90 percent of the company's offerings are made in the U.S.
Support from Abbey's National Organization
In addition to a better selection of national brands, Abbey provides Katz Floorcovering with business support services including marketing and advertising services and a web presence. Abbey has helped Katz with television ads as well as newspaper ads that run three times a week.
"Sara and I are both impressed with the quality of support we have received from the Abbey corporate offices," Katz said.
"It's good to be part of a national organization. Manufacturers are more responsive to claims and through Abbey we can offer 60-day satisfaction guarantees and lifetime soil, stain and wear warranties."
Partnering with Armstrong to Help Injured Vets
Katz is partnering with Armstrong Floors to help injured veterans who are returning home. In 2013, Armstrong will donate floors for approximately 30 homes to be built by Homes for Our Troops, a nonprofit that builds specially adapted homes for severely injured U.S. veterans. A portion of the sales of Armstrong's new American Scrape collection will be dedicated to supporting this effort.
"Each of our customers will be able to contribute to this worthy cause by purchasing a floor from this new hardwood collection by Armstrong," said Sara Katz.
"Joining forces in this worthy endeavor is exciting, and the more we all come together, the more veterans we will be able to help."
The American Scrape collection features textured oak and hickory floors in five-inch widths with color selections that are named for diverse regions around the country. Each floor is made in the U.S.
