New Albany Ga Biz Directory Goes Live

Glennette Goodbread, owner of Premium Web Design and Hosting in Albany, launched a new online directory of Albany-based businesses this month. The Albany Ga Biz Directory, www.albanygabiz.com, is a categorized, searchable listing of hundreds of area businesses that includes links to their websites, contact information as well as mapped locations.
"I know the tendency is to jump on the Internet when shopping for a new product or service provider. My goal is to encourage Albany residents and businesses to shop local first," Goodbread said.
Goodbread has been involved in web design, hosting and search engine optimization since 1999. She frequently helps companies attract new customers by improving the search rankings of their websites.
"Incoming links from a business directory helps with search rankings so that's another reason I developed the Albany directory," she explained.
How it works
To prepare for the launch, Goodbread worked three months to populate the directory with hundreds of free listings. However, businesses can choose a paid plan to access more options. Paid options include the ability to link to Facebook, Google Places and Twitter pages, use HTML in the business description, include special offers to shoppers, appear in multiple categories and as a Featured Listing within a category.
Goodbread expects the pricing to evolve over time as the directory gains visibility. For example, in the future Goodbread will offer a video option, which would enable business leaders to better connect with potential customers. Customer reviews are also planned.
In addition to the listing, the directory features news feeds from local TV stations, AlbanyCEO and Goodbread's Premium Web Design site. The goal according to Goodbread is to "build a trusted website that people in Albany will go to before Google."
"In this economy more than ever, it's important to shop local," Goodbread said.
