Georgia’s Banks Post Strong 2021 Results

Georgia’s 150 FDIC-insured banks closed out 2021 with net income of $1.9 billion, a 52.2% increase from year-end 2020, according to FDIC data released Tuesday. Loans were up 6.5%, deposits grew by 14.2% and total assets increased by 13.3%. Credit quality also remains extremely strong, with noncurrent loans and charge-offs declining from already low levels.

The enhancements will bring the Port of Savannah’s annual capacity from 6 million twenty-foot equivalent container units to 9.5 million TEUs by 2025.

The Port of Savannah moved a record 5.6 million twenty-foot equivalent container units in Calendar Year 2021, growing volumes by a million TEUs, or 20 percent, compared to 2020. In Brunswick, Colonel’s Island Terminal handled 649,550 units of cars, trucks and machinery, an increase of 10.6 percent.
