GSW to Name Public Safety Building in Honor of Fallen Officers Nick Smarr and Jody Smith

The names of fallen police officers Nick Smarr and Jody Smith will be memorialized on the building that is home to Georgia Southwestern State University’s Public Safety Department. At their monthly meeting in Atlanta, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia approved a proposal from GSW Interim President Charles Patterson to name the building the “Nicholas Smarr and Jody Smith Memorial Building.”

Dr. Mosely to Retire at the End of the School Year

Dr. David C. Mosely, superintendent for the Dougherty County School System, told the Dougherty County Board of Education that he will resign his position at the end of the 2016-2017 school year for health and family reasons. Following a career that spanned nearly 50 years, Dr. Mosely came out of retirement in 2014 to take on the job of superintendent and turn the Dougherty County School System around.
